If I were to be in that situation, I would try to get as much help as possible to change my status to a legal immigrant with legal documents. People would probably appreciate your honesty and help you out rather than living life miserably keeping your life a secret. Let alone if you were to be caught illegal without you ever doing an attempt to be legalized.
I know a caregiver that is an illegal immigrant and the only way she knows how to become a citizen is to marry an American. anyone interested jk. i tried to tell her if she works long enough at the place she works at they might petition her to become a legalized citizen.
lol Kenneth! I have met a few hispanic women with that issue and they appear to believe that marrying an American man is best solution because it's easier.
There are many jobs, landlords, and even family members who are willing to help out non-citizen immigrants with like under the table job payments, paying rent with cash, or just living with family who do have citizenship.
This is a tough question because you are never sure how people are going to react to such news.
I think it is very important to change peoples preconceived notions about undocumented immigrants. We forget that many undocumented immigrants are just like us, they pay taxes, they attending school, they are cultured like the rest of us, except they are lacking documentation. If we remember this and spread this message then i think it will make it a lot easier for them to seek for help.
I think that I wouldn't go entirely public about it because I can risk getting caught by authorities and get deported. I would try to do good in my life and try my best to achieve my goals and dreams, but at the same time, I would seek for help from people that I trust and I would do a lot of research before I try to get my self legal documents.
I would go and seek for helps to become a legal immigrant because you can not have a good quality of life when you're illegal immigrants.
ReplyDeleteI think as long as you work hard, people will recognize you and help you to get through this harsh situation.

ReplyDeleteI would keep it a secret. Honestly I wouldn't be able to trust anyone with that type of secret. Not a great lifestyle but what can you do?

If i want to live freely, then i would have to seek for help.
ReplyDeletei would seek for help. but i think it is very hard to find people who can help who i really can trust. and also, it takes a lot of money and time.
