Question

What is the difference between an Illegal alien and a Legal alien?

  1. I think the greatest difference is freedom as illegal aliens get restrictions in many criteria.

  2. The difference is that a illegal alien (illegal immigrant) leaves his/her country without having the proper requirements for them to migrate to the other country, where as a legal alien (legal immigrant) goes through the correct process and filings to leave his/her country to migrate to the other country legally.

  4. Alien simply means a person who is not born in the US. Illegal alien either enters the US illegally or overstays in the US (this happens when tourists escape from their tour group and never come back to their respective country). Legal aliens, unlike the illegal ones, have correct documentation to both enter and stay in the US. An example of legal alien is international students. As long as they have proper and unexpired F-1 visa, they are legal aliens.

  5. The main difference is that the illegal immigrant came here without any proper documents and as citizenship where as the legal immigrant did come with the right documents and does have citizenship.

  6. The difference between the two is that one migrated to the US with documentation that gave him/her permission(legal alie). The other one migrated to the US without consent from the American government. (ilegal alien)

  7. Illegal aliens migrated to the U.S. without the proper documentation while legal aliens would go through a long process to obtain the proper documentations to enter the U.S.
