Some of the reasons Asians moved to America are for better employment, education, escape from their corrupt government, and essentially for a better life.
While I'm not sure about all Asians, I believe most of them attempted to immigrate in order to better their financial situations. The post Napoleonic Era and post Industrial Revolution Era put the west far ahead in terms of their economic and industrial standards. Many Chinese Americans immigrated to both Hawaii and California from southern China with the hopes of bettering their economic situation, then returning to China. However, this plan did not work out to their advantage.
Many Asians are clouded with the idea that America is a place they can escape to and do whatever they want. Many leave to find a better standard of living for their families.
I know most of my fmaily and others wanted to come to America because they wanted a better life and also not to die because most of their siblings have passed away from being killed by the war that was going on

Because, the United States stands way above the rest of the world in the standards of living.
