I went to a bartending flair competition and 1 pro from france was chilling with a italian... and they were talking, nobody spoke another language but i coudl tell the difference, once he talk to the italian, another bartender began talking to him, and he was from urguay,
right away we asked " YOU SPEAK FRENCH!?" he said
"no luigi speaks italian....french, spanish....and portaguese, si dario?"
I agree that most immigrants in America are bilingual. All the immigrants are known as Foreign-born people in the U.S. so definitely they have their native language and to come to U.S have to learn English as their second Language. hence, most immigrants can speak at least two languages.
Most foreign students are taught English in their own country. Foreign students who immigrate to America, are usually required to take ESL classes to teach them the standard language of America.
Yes i believe that most immmigrants in the U.S are bilingial and English is mainly their second langauge. People who come to the U.S have to learn English since its the main language.
What about Kang's grandmom in the "Late Homecomer" she refused to learn english, but I bet she probably learned more than your lead to believe. There are no absolutes not every immigrant is biligual.
Most immigrants can speak two languages, but sometimes when they come over their second language is a little bit weak. Immigrants are taught the basics of English before they come here. However when they arrive they can improve on their English by learning from experience, and interacting with people.
Most immigrant can speak at least two language. one is English, another one is their mother tongue language from their own country! English language is the most important though!
um..... yes heh

Due to globalization many countries now require or at least try to push students to take up English along with their own languages.
